12/12/14 - Steve Lyons

Found an autographed copy of Steve Lyons' autobiography for $1 at the used bookstore (actually found two signed copies, anyone interested in buying the second one?).  Steve is probably best known for pulling his pants down while standing on first base during a game.  I'm not expecting this book to be exactly high brow reading but it might end up being humorous.

3/3/14 - Bill Iffrig

Found the name of the Boston Marathoner shown on the cover of Sports Illustrated when I read an article about him in the newspaper.  Since he has such a unique name, I figured I would be able to find his contact information online.  Sent the magazine to him and received it back in a week, with an added inscription of 4:03.

2/6/14 - S. Truett Cathy

Although definitely not a sports figure, I was surprised to get a book signed in the mail by S. Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A.  I received the book for free thru Bookmooch, and the inside cover was signed by Mr. Cathy.  I have always admired his company's Christian values and had previously read another book by him.  Mr. Cathy's favorite verse is Proverbs 22:1 - A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.
